Overview

Welcome to the Summer Research Programme for Secondary School Students (SRPSSS), a unique four-week immersive internship experience designed specifically for secondary school students with a passion for psychology. Our programme offers participants the opportunity to delve into the world of clinical psychological sciences research while connecting with like-minded peers and mentors in a supportive environment.

By joining the Summer Research Programme, students will:

  • Explore the fascinating realm of behavioural sleep medicine and clinical psychology research under the guidance of seasoned reseachers.
  • Engage in hands-on research projects that enhance practical skills and deepen understanding of psychological concepts.

Eligibility

Students who are applying to universities in the year 2025 / 2026 are welcome to apply. They include:

  • Secondary F4-F5 students of the Hong Kong DSE
  • Year 11-12 students of the British GCE-AL
  • 5th Year MYP or 1st Year DP students of the International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • or students from other equivalent curriculums.

Application Procedures

  1. Apply on the online application form.
  2. Fill in the required information and upload supporting documents (i.e., written Personal Letter OR a 3-Minute video introducing yourself).
  3. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to a Zoom interview.
  4. Receive application result through email by the end of May.
  5. Accept offer by replying to the email withiin 7 days of release of applicaiton results. 
  6. Receive “Confirmation of Admission” together with a welcome pack.

FAQs

None at all! This programme is tailored to be inclusive and for students with an interest in psychology, irrespective of their previous experience in the subject.

Absolutely! We welcome students from various backgrounds. However, please ensure you meet the language requirements specified below.

All mini-lectures will be conducted in English. However, some workshops and day-to-day interactions with research staff may be in Cantonese or Mandarin. Thus, students should possess at least conversational proficiency in these languages.

Yes! Students who achieve at least 80% attendance throughout the course will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement upon the programme’s completion.

It’s free! As part of the knowledge exchange initiative from the laboratory, this Summer Research Programme is available at no cost for all participating students.
